Collections

The CAI has valuable collections in the Optometry field. The reference, circulation, and journal collections are on open shelves. The reserve collection is the only section on closed shelves. The audiovisual collection such as videocassettes, audiocassettes, and slides are on independent files.

To locate a book, consult the online catalog using the iLink by author, title, subject, word or phrase combination this will give you the call number of the book, which indicates the location on the shelf where the book may be found.

The library personnel is available to guide you in the searching or in finding a book.

 

Audiovisual Collection
Includes DVD's, VHS, CD's, audiocassettes, and slides used by the faculty or assigned. This collection must be used within the CAI.

To locate any audiovisual material, consult the online catalog iLink by author, title, subject, word or phrase combination this will give you the call number of the resource, which indicates the location on the shelf where the resource may be found.

 

Reference Collection
It consists of those books that are kept and consulted for brief information: dictionaries, encyclopedias, atlases, annuals, directories, indexes, bibliographies, etc. These books have to be used within the CAI.

To locate a book, consult the online catalog iLink by author, title, subject, word or phrase combination. The call number of the book indicates the location on the shelf where the book may be found.

 

Reserve Collection
Can be borrowed for two (2) hours.

To locate a book, consult the online catalog using the iLink by author, title, subject, word or phrase combination this will give you the call number of the book, which indicates the location on the shelf where the book may be found.

To locate an Academic Reserve you should request it at the counter and present a validated ID with photo.

 

Circulation Collection
Includes those books loaned for a given period of time. You may borrow a maximum of five (5) books at the same time for 15 days and renew them for another period, if nobody else has requested them.

Journal Collection
Includes current subscriptions of periodicals. This collection must be used within the CAI.
