Office 365 for students, faculty and staff

Since June 2014, we migrated our email system to Office 365 using the Microsoft "cloud".

Students will have an IAUPR School of Optometry email on the @optonet.inter.edu "domain", while Faculty and Staff will have email under the @opto.inter.edu "domain".

Office 365 is free to students who are enrolled in the IAUPR School of Optometry. Also, Office365 is free for Faculty/Staff of the IAUPR School of Optometry, and includes 1 TB of storage from OneDrive so you and your students can easily work together and stay connected. You may install Office on up to 5 PCs or Macs and on other mobile devices, including Android, iPad®, and Windows tablets.

To download Office 365, please go to: www.office.com/getOffice365

For every individual of the IAUPR School of Optometry the login process is the same:

  1. Login at school webpage (email link at top-right) or at https://login.microsoftonline.com/
  2. When you login, it will ask you to create a new password. After setting the password up, the email is accessed by the "Outlook" link on the top blue bar.

Apartments Internet Access

The IAUPR School of Optometry apartments have Internet service provided by the School.

From November 22, 2013 the internet access has to be configured/requested at the CIT office.

To have access, you need to have configured a PPPoE connection, and it requires an username/password assigned by CIT. This access ONLY allows for a single device connection, so it is extremely important that if you connect to the Internet thru a router, that you bring the router to CIT for configuration or instructions on how to configure.

Respondus updates

The Respondus© Lockdown Browser is just one of many tools students need to have installed on their computers to be able to complete online examinations on the BlackBoard Learning System. Since this software is updated often, the CIT will publish the latest update for Windows and Mac computers in the Public shared folder.

You will find it by going to Public folder -> Laptop Tools -> Respondus.

If for any reason the update is not available in Public, the official download link for our School is:

http://www.respondus.com/lockdown/download.php?id=916432331

You SHOULD NOT download the Respondus Lockdown Browser from any other link!
This download is customized specifically for IAUPR School of Optometry. Any other link will not work with IAUPR Blackboard system!

Be advised that Respondus servers sometimes cut the download short (disconnection by idle time), in those occasions the download is incomplete

Windows Computers

You can install the new version over the old one, when the Respondus setup initiates, just select Reinstall / Update from the options shown before installing.

Special note for Mac computers

To reinstall on Mac computers it is advised that you uninstall the existing Respondus (Go to Applications folder and drag Respondus Lockdown Browser to Trash bin), EMPTY the Trash bin and THEN install the new version.

This is the most reliable way to be sure you have the latest version installed.
